In 1979, Germain Bélanger received the Canplast Award for his exceptional leadership and continued contribution to the Canadian Plastics Industry (SPI).
In 1986, the St-Jérôme CEGEP named an entire pavilion after Germain Bélanger, to honour him for developing a college level program leading to a specialized diploma in the Transformation of Composite Materials. The Germain-Bélanger Pavilion is now dedicated to training qualified technicians in the field of composite materials at the St-Jérôme CEGEP.
In 1993, Germain Bélanger was invited to serve on the National Advisory Panel on Advanced Industrial Materials for the Department of Industry, Science and Technology of Canada.
In 1995, he was part of the Canadian group of delegates representing the Polymers Sector at The First Trilateral Materials Workshop following the adoption of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) (Canada – Mexico – United States).
